MEMBERSHIP
AHDP members support each other through conference sessions and listserv discussion on topics such as:
Improving program assessment procedures
Innovative curriculum
Promoting diversity
Developing academic leadership skills
Strategic planning
Administering budgets
Managing conflict
Preparing students for success
And many other topics
Many chairs who have joined our organization have commented one of the most valuable aspects of AHDP membership is knowing that other chairs face similar challenges. AHDP members share strategies that have worked, consult with each other on trends and practices, and stay up to date on what other institutions are doing.
AHDP is open to chairs and division heads of psychology departments in higher education.
The AHDP membership fee is $25. This includes access to our listserv, where we share resources and information and answer each others’ questions throughout the year.

Members are located at a variety of higher education institutions all over the United States and range in experience from newly appointed to long-time chairs.
BiAnnual Meetings
Our major professional development opportunity is our annual meetings. During AY2023-2024 we will have a fall and spring meeting. The fall 2023 virtual meeting will take place October 16th. The spring 2024 meeting date is TBD. Please see this page for information about the fall 2023 virtual meeting.
